Interpol-Wanted Algerian Drug Trafficking Suspect Arrested in Morocco

Suspected of links with an international drug trafficking network, an Algerian national was arrested by Moroccan authorities in Fez as he was preparing his residence permit in Morocco.
According to a statement from the DGSN, the 36-year-old man was busy preparing his residence permit in Morocco when the "tracking operation" carried out on the basis of Interpol’s database revealed that he was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by the Algerian authorities.
He is suspected of being part of an international criminal drug trafficking network. The facts he is accused of date back to 2018, the year an investigation determined his involvement in the trafficking of a cannabis shipment.
The Algerian was placed in custody in accordance with the extradition procedure, pending the completion of the investigation by the competent prosecutor’s office.
