A 29-year-old Algerian was arrested on Monday for international drug trafficking, in Casablanca. He was the subject of an international arrest warrant for drug trafficking issued by the Algerian authorities.
According to Alyaoum24, the Algerian judicial authorities had issued an international arrest warrant against this individual, for international drug and psychotropic trafficking. He would be part of a network operating in Algeria but also in Morocco.
The same source specifies: "The arrest of the suspect is part of the efforts of the General Directorate of National Security to strengthen the mechanisms of international cooperation in the field of security, as well as in the context of the intensification of criminal proceedings for international drug trafficking and psychotropic substances and other forms of transnational crime."
The Algerian citizen arrested was placed in custody for the purposes of the investigation, under the authority of the competent public prosecutor’s office, and the Algerian authorities have received notification of his arrest with a view to initiating the necessary measures, probably going in the direction of an extradition.
