Influential Fez Deputy Arrested in Major Land Fraud and Illegal Construction Scandal

Elements of the National Brigade of the Judicial Police (BNPJ) arrested a very influential deputy from Fez. He would be involved in a vast case of land diversion and illegal urban constructions at the level of the rural commune of Oulad Tayeb.
After his arrest, the deputy from Fez had a fainting spell and was admitted to the Ibn El Khatib hospital in Fez, before returning to the premises of the BNPJ, reports Assabah. He is the main accused in a vast case of land diversion and illegal urban constructions at the level of the rural commune of Oulad Tayeb, under the Fez-Meknes region. He had managed this town as mayor during the previous term.
In addition to the elected official, several civil servants, including an engineer, a municipal agent, an auxiliary authority and a manager of collective lands, were also arrested. Heard by the BNPJ, they were all placed in custody along with the parliamentarian. According to local sources, there could be other arrests as part of this case. What reinforces this probability is the summons addressed by the BNPJ to several people or personalities in the region.
Pending possible arrests, the custody of the deputy and his accomplices will be extended, in order to allow the BNPJ investigators to elucidate this case.
