Marrakech Police Commissioner Implicated in Corruption and Embezzlement Scandal

A senior police commissioner and the manager of a bank agency were referred on Saturday to the public prosecutor’s office near the Marrakech Court of Appeal, as part of a case of embezzlement of public funds, corruption and extortion.
Initially, the BNPJ had opened an investigation with the manager of the bank agency located in Tiznit for embezzlement of public funds, according to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), which points out that it was the research and investigations carried out that revealed that the senior police commissioner who was having a relationship with the suspect was involved in this case of embezzlement. He is said to have received large sums from the funds extorted by the manager.
The two accused, after being taken into custody, were referred to the public prosecutor’s office in Marrakech.
As for the senior police commissioner, in addition to his legal troubles, he will have to face administrative sanctions. Pending the conclusion of the judicial procedure, he has been temporarily suspended.
