High-Speed Mediterranean Chase: Moroccan Navy Pursues Drug-Laden Boat

An impressive chase was triggered off the Mediterranean coast between the Moroccan coast guards and a foreign pleasure boat. Two nationals, of English and Spanish nationality, transporting large quantities of cannabis, refused to comply with the orders of the royal navy.
Last Friday, a pleasure boat remained for several minutes unloading large quantities of cannabis into two fishing boats, before they joined the fishing port of Fnideq.
After viewing the images of the traffic on the radar screens placed at Cabo Negro, the elements of the royal navy were forced to fire shots at the foreign boat that refused to respond to the light and sound alarms, said the daily Assabah.
The chase lasted more than half an hour, before the coast guards managed to board the pleasure boat and arrest the two foreign nationals. 19 packages of cannabis resin of different sizes were seized on board the boat as well as mobile phones and navigation licenses.
The two suspects as well as four Moroccan sailors were prosecuted for international drug trafficking, and detained in the local prison in Tetouan.
