Heavy Snowfall and Cold Snap to Hit Morocco: Up to 55 cm Expected

Cold weather is back in Morocco with snowfall and strong gusts of wind, from Wednesday to Saturday, November 28, according to a statement from the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM).

Snowfall up to 55 cm is expected from Wednesday to Friday in the provinces of Al Haouz, Chichaoua, Azilal, Béni Mellal, Tinghir, Midelt, Ifrane, Khénifra, Sefrou, Taza, Taourirt, Guercif, Figuig, Taroudant, Ouarzazate, Tinghir, Errachidia and Boulemane.

In addition, cold weather is expected from Thursday to Saturday in the provinces of Al Haouz, Chichaoua, Azilal, Béni Mellal, Tinghir, Midelt and Ifrane, with a minimum temperature ranging from -7°C to -3°C and a maximum temperature between 3°C and 8°C.

The minimum temperature will vary between -3°C and 2°C and the maximum between 8°C and 13°C in the provinces of Khénifra, Sefrou, Taza, Taourirt, Guercif, Figuig, Taroudant, Ouarzazate, Tinghir, Errachidia, Jerada, Al Hoceima and Boulemane.

In addition, strong gusts of wind (70 to 85 km/h) are expected on Thursday in the provinces of Berkane, Boulemane, Figuig, Guercif, Jerada, Midelt, Nador, Oujda-Angad and Taourirt.

In an orange alert, the General Directorate of Meteorology announced on Thursday strong gusts of wind that could reach up to 85 km/h in the provinces of Berkane, Boulemane, Figuig, Guercif, Jerada, Midelt, Nador, Oujda-Angad and Taourirt.

Furthermore, in the provinces of Casablanca, Nouaceur, Settat, Safi, El Jadida, Kénitra, Larache, Sidi Bennour, Essaouira, Youssoufia, Chtouka Ait Baha, Agadir Ida outanane, Al Haouz and Marrakech, locally moderate rain showers (20-44 mm in height) are to be feared, from Wednesday to Thursday, the same statement specifies.
