Heavy Rain and Snow Forecast for Northern Morocco, Authorities Issue Alert

The Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM) has issued an orange alert bulletin for several Moroccan provinces. Heavy rains and snowfall at altitude are expected between Wednesday and Saturday.
From this Wednesday, March 12 at 8:00 p.m., and until Thursday, March 13 at 12:00 p.m., the provinces of Al Hoceima, Mdiq-Fnideq, Tetouan, Tangier-Assilah, Ouezzane, Larache, Fahs-Anjra, Chefchaouen, Taza and Taounate 1 will be affected by heavy rainfall. Rainfall totals between 40 and 60 mm are expected in these areas, DGN specifies.
In addition, a snowy episode will affect the country’s reliefs. The DGM forecasts snowfall of 50 to 80 cm above 1,500 meters of altitude, from Thursday, March 13 at 9:00 p.m. to Saturday, March 15 at 6:00 a.m. The provinces of Ifrane, Azilal, Beni Mellal and Midelt are particularly concerned.
During the same period, the provinces of Al Haouz, Khenifra, Boulemane, Al Hoceima, Chefchaouen, Sefrou and Taroudant will also record snowfall, with accumulations ranging from 10 to 50 cm.
