Healthcare Workers Face Rising Assaults in Dakhla, Morocco’s Health Ministry Takes Action

Faced with the multiplication of physical assaults on medical personnel, the Regional Directorate of Health and Social Protection of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab has expressed its bitterness and stresses that it has taken measures to prosecute the perpetrators of these ignoble acts.
Last Friday, an individual assaulted and injured a nursing assistant during the on-call shift in the Covid-19 isolation service at the Hassan II Regional Hospital in Dakhla. One assault too many, according to the press release from the Regional Directorate of Health, which reached MAP.
In its press release, the directorate also condemned the assaults suffered by medical, administrative and security personnel in the health facilities of the region, which are the work of individuals accompanying patients. These "ignoble and irresponsible" behaviors have caused "horror and panic" among citizens, patients and the staff of these establishments.
Faced with this recurring phenomenon, the Regional Directorate has expressed its determination to defend the dignity of the personnel in this sector, who are sacrificing themselves despite the difficulties in order to provide quality health services.
That is why the Health Directorate intends to use all means to ensure that those who engage in this type of behavior are punished with the full force of the law, it is stated.
