Health Ministry Investigates Infant Death and Illness Outbreak at Rabat Maternity Hospital
An investigation has just been opened by the Ministry of Health following the suspicious death of an infant and the deterioration of the health of five newborns at the Maternité des Orangers in Rabat.
"The medical staff immediately took care of six newborns who were immediately transferred to the resuscitation and intensive care unit at the pediatric hospital, which allowed the condition of five infants to improve," the ministry wrote in a statement.
Deploring the death of the baby, the ministry also expressed its regret for this painful incident and conveyed its sincere condolences to the family of the deceased newborn.
In addition to the investigation, a commission has been tasked with conducting the necessary investigations to determine the causes of this death and the deterioration of the health of the five infants, and to establish the responsibilities if necessary, the ministry said, stating that administrative measures will be taken "in light of the conclusions of the judicial investigation on this subject and in order to avoid any conflict of competence and any violation of legal procedures".
