Moroccan Nurses Jailed Following Newborn Death at Rabat Maternity Hospital

Two nurses suspected of being involved in the death of an infant at the Maternité des Orangers in Rabat have been placed in detention on the orders of the public prosecutor.
According to the newspaper Al Akhbar, the public prosecutor at the court of first instance in Rabat ordered their detention in the local prison of Al Arjat in Salé.
In a press release published last week, the Ministry of Health stated that "the medical staff and the nurse immediately took care of six newborns who were immediately transferred to the resuscitation and intensive care unit at the pediatric hospital, which allowed five infants to improve their condition."
An investigation was to determine the cause of the infant’s death and the deterioration of the health of the other infants. Since then, they have been able to leave the Ibn Sina hospital after their health improved.
