He asks to stay with his cousin in Ceuta: Moroccan man killed during dispute

A Moroccan man in his thirties was fatally stabbed on Thursday morning inside a relative’s home in Ceuta. A woman has been arrested, but police are still working to establish the exact circumstances of the dispute.

The tragedy occurred on Thursday, September 3, at around 7 a.m., in a house in the former Poblado de Regulares, in Ceuta.

The victim, a Moroccan national aged around thirty, was in an irregular situation in the city. According to El Español, he is believed to have entered Ceuta during the mass crossings recorded at the end of July.

The young man reportedly went to his cousin’s home that morning in order to stay there. After she refused, a violent argument allegedly broke out inside the young woman’s parents’ house.

During the dispute, the 25-year-old woman allegedly used a knife and struck the Moroccan man in the chest. The emergency responders sent to the scene were unable to save him.

The National Police now speaks of a distant family connection between the victim and the suspect. The latter reportedly told officers herself that the Moroccan was a member of her family.

The suspect did not flee. After the stabbing, she allegedly stated herself that she had just killed the man inside the home, prompting the immediate intervention of the police.

Officers from the National Police and the forensic police, as well as the duty judge, went to the scene. The house and its surroundings were inspected for several hours.

Shortly before noon, investigators were still searching for the knife allegedly used. In particular, they searched the area around the home and looked underneath cars parked in the neighborhood.

The victim’s body was then transferred to the autopsy room.

According to the initial information provided by the government delegation, the arrested woman has a history linked to diagnosed mental-health problems and substance use.

The investigation must also determine whether the Moroccan was already staying in the house or had just arrived there to ask to remain. Police sources cited by the Spanish media gave different versions on this point.

The murder occurred as residents of Poblado de Regulares have been denouncing for several weeks the presence of numerous Moroccans who remained in Ceuta after the mass arrivals in July. Some sleep in the street or between cars, while others are accommodated in housing hosting several people.
