Hakimi Shines as PSG’s Rising Star: World Cup Confidence Boosts Performance

Achraf Hakimi is in great shape since his return from the World Cup in Qatar with Morocco. The Moroccan defender of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) showed it again on Saturday during the match against Toulouse (2-1) by scoring a goal and providing an assist to Messi.
The Moroccan international feels more "confident" in recent games. His contribution was decisive for the Parisians’ victory against Toulouse (2-1) on Saturday and against Montpellier (3-1) on February 1st. "I’m happy to start the year this way and I hope to continue like this. With the World Cup, I gained a lot of confidence. I hope to continue like this and play the way I do with the Moroccan national team. I want to use this confidence to reproduce the same type of performance with Paris," Achraf Hakimi told the newspaper Le Parisien.
But in addition to this confidence, Hakimi says he is "more liberated". "I changed my mentality. I don’t think about what’s going wrong, but I focus on the positive things of the team," he explains, considering the injury of Kylian Mbappé, his teammate and friend, as a blow for the team. "A player like Kylian brings a lot to the team, but we’ll find the solution and make sure his absence from the team isn’t too noticeable," added the Moroccan right-back, who hopes the French striker will be fit before the match against Bayern.
