Hakim Ziyech Seeks Exit from Galatasaray as Transfer Options Emerge

The Hakim Ziyech saga at Galatasaray seems to be coming to an end. The Moroccan international, at odds with the Istanbul club, would have clearly expressed his intention to leave as early as this winter. Where will the talented attacking midfielder bounce back? Several tracks are already emerging, in Europe and beyond.

A return to the Netherlands, to Ajax Amsterdam, where Ziyech played, is being considered. Greece, with Olympiacos and Panathinaikos, is also among the potential destinations. Ligue 1 in France and Benfica Lisbon are also cited as possible options.

According to information relayed by the Turkish press, Benfica would have already submitted a concrete offer to the player through his agent. At the same time, clubs in the Persian Gulf, notably Al-Arabi in Qatar, would be closely interested in the experienced profile of the Moroccan international.

This announced departure comes in a context of strong tensions between Ziyech and Galatasaray. The player has publicly expressed his regrets about his choice to join the Turkish club, describing the current situation as a dead end. Scathing criticism of coach Okan Buruk has also been reported. "I’ve never seen a coach of such a low level as Okan," Ziyech is said to have said.

Arrived at Galatasaray in 2023 from Chelsea, Ziyech had a contrasting first season. Despite a Turkish championship title, injuries and adaptation difficulties disrupted his journey. His contract, which runs until 2025, includes an automatic extension clause depending on his playing time. However, the club’s management no longer seems inclined to retain the player.
