Galatasaray in Talks with Ziyech’s Agent Over Contract Termination

The management of the Galatasaray football club has started negotiations with the agent of the Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech with a view to an amicable departure without too much impact on the piggy bank.
The objective of these discussions is to find common ground for a mutual termination of the contract binding the player to the Istanbul club before the opening of the next winter transfer window.
According to the Turkish newspaper Aspor, the negotiations quickly encountered a major obstacle: the amount of the severance pay. Ziyech’s agent is demanding 3.5 million euros, a sum that would correspond to his client’s financial rights. Faced with this request, the Galatasaray management has proposed one million euros, an offer deemed unacceptable by the Moroccan player.
Several reasons motivate the club’s desire to part ways with Ziyech. On the one hand, the midfielder does not seem to fit into coach Okan Buruk’s plans. On the other hand, his high salary represents a significant financial burden for the club.
Moreover, a clause in the contract provides for an automatic extension with a 50% salary increase if Ziyech participates in a certain number of matches next season. Galatasaray is therefore trying to avoid this deadline by reaching an agreement with the player this winter.
