Hakim Ziyech in Qatar for the money?
Hakim Ziyech surprised the entire football world by joining Al-Duhail, in Qatar, during the latest winter transfer window. A choice that left Abdeslam Ouaddou, a former defender for the Moroccan national team, skeptical.
“Ziyech is a hugely talented player, with exceptional technical quality,” Ouaddou immediately emphasized to Africa Foot, before continuing: “After a mixed experience at Chelsea, I thought he was going to do great things in Turkey, but it did not work out as well as we had hoped.” The former Moroccan defender is referring here to Ziyech’s latest club, Galatasaray, where the player did not really manage to establish himself.

But what remains most surprising for Ouaddou is Ziyech’s destination: “Nevertheless, I am surprised by his move to Qatar, to a league where the level has declined. It seems to me to be a choice that is more financial than sporting.”
Abdeslam Ouaddou did not stop there and even put forward another hypothesis regarding a career choice that would have been wiser in his view: “I would have better understood him moving to Saudi Arabia, one of the three best Asian leagues, or finding a new club in Europe.”
As a reminder, Hakim Ziyech joined Al-Duhail on a free transfer after terminating his contract with Galatasaray.
