Gary Neville Compares Chelsea’s Ziyech to Man City’s Mahrez After Tottenham Win

Chelsea beat Tottenham 2-0 on Sunday, January 23, 2022 for the 23rd round of the Premier League. The Blues owe this victory to Franco-Brazilian international Thiago Silva and Hakim Ziyech. The performances of the Moroccan international were also praised by former England international turned coach, Gary Nevdille. The latter does not hesitate to compare the former Ajax Amsterdam star to Manchester City star Riyad Mahrez.

"I awarded Ziyech the ’man of the match’ award, I just thought he had done very well," the former Manchester United and England defender said on Sky Sports. According to him, the Moroccan international is facing real opposition within his own team with teammates like Timo Werner, Christian Pulisic, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Mason Mount who can all play in this position, but he is as skillful as Riyad Mahrez: a left shoulder dive and a nice left foot.

"He makes good deliveries from set pieces and it was brilliant, a brilliant goal." Ziyech’s goal against the Spurs is his fifth scored with Chelsea this season. He has also provided four assists in 23 appearances.
