Ziyech’s Stunning Strike Leads Chelsea to 2-0 Victory Over Tottenham
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel praised the performance of Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech against Tottenham (2-0) on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Stamford Bridge, during the 23rd round of the Premier League.
Both Hakim Ziyech and Franco-Brazilian international Thiago Silva contributed to Chelsea’s victory over Tottenham (2-0) by each scoring 1 goal after the break. But it was the goal scored by the Moroccan international that made an impression. "I was just behind it," said Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel. "I thought it was a bit too high but it dropped at the right second. It was a brilliant goal. His technique was brilliant."
"It was physically difficult, so all the credit, I think we deserved it. Very important for morale - we’re going into a mini break, it changes everything, the atmosphere, the conviction. We played the game we deserved. A lot of good things, we were patient and we kept believing and attacking in the second half. Now we’re trying to breathe a little."
After this victory, the English club is relaunching in the championship and consolidating its third place, taking 11 points ahead of its opponents, and remains ten points behind leader Manchester City, with one more game. Liverpool is currently second behind City. As for Spurs, they are seventh. "A huge effort, the prospect of a few free days and the London derby also helped," Thomas Tuchel is pleased.
