Gabon is officially opening the doors of a general consulate in Laâyoune. The result of the Moroccan diplomatic efforts led by Minister Nasser Bourita, the opening ceremony will be held this Friday, January 17.
The establishment of this consulate is a real blow to the Polisario separatists (and Algeria).
It comes just a few days after the opening of a Gambian general consulate in Dakhla, and a similar chancellery of the Comoros Islands in Laâyoune, reports maghreb-intelligence.com, which points out that the Gabonese Foreign Minister could be at the ceremony alongside his Moroccan counterpart.
