Kuwait Set to Open Consulate in Western Sahara, Joining African Nations

Kuwait is following in the footsteps of African countries that have opened diplomatic representations in the Moroccan Sahara.
According to magreb-intelligence.com, preparations are underway for the imminent opening of a Kuwaiti general consulate in Laayoune. Until now, nine African countries have established diplomatic representations in the Moroccan Sahara. These include Côte d’Ivoire, the Comoros, Guinea, Gambia, Djibouti and Burundi.
The head of Moroccan diplomacy, Nasser Bourita, says he is pleased with this enthusiasm for the Moroccan Sahara, even though this is not to the liking of Algeria, which has condemned it. Algiers has even gone so far as to summon its ambassador in Côte d’Ivoire for consultations.
