Funeral of Abdelaziz Barrada: Lekjaa and Moroccan players shine by their absence

A wave of outrage swept through social media after the funeral of former Moroccan international Abdelaziz Barrada.
Supporters have strongly criticized the notable absence of many sports officials and national team players at the burial ceremonies in the Tinghir region.
While the family and close relatives of the deceased were present to pay him a final tribute, players and sports officials were conspicuous by their absence. An affront for the fans who recall the good relations maintained by Barrada with many players of the national team and other figures of Moroccan sports.
Faouzi Lekjaa, president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, is particularly singled out for his absence. Some supporters deplore a lack of consideration for the deceased’s family and express discontent with the governing bodies of Moroccan football.
