Former Moroccan Soccer Star Abdelaziz Barrada Dies at 35, Body to Return Home

The native village of Abdelaziz Barrada, Douar Aït Abdallah, in the commune of Khemis Dades in Kalaat M’Gouna, is preparing to welcome the remains of the son of the country, who died suddenly in France at the age of 35. The former Moroccan international succumbed to a heart attack last Thursday at his home.
While the native village awaits his return, administrative obstacles delay the repatriation of the body. Abdelaziz Barrada held dual French-Moroccan nationality, which makes certain procedures more difficult. A relative of the family indicated that the necessary documents should be obtained this Saturday or at the latest next Monday.
The day before his death, the player had confided his discomfort to his mother, saying "not feeling well". On Wednesday afternoon, he died suddenly of a heart attack while taking a nap.
The announcement of his disappearance has caused a wave of emotion in Morocco and France. Many football personalities, including Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, have expressed their condolences to the family. Many people from the Tinghir region also went to the family home to show their support.
