Former Moroccan International Abdelaziz Barrada Dies at 35

A hard blow for Moroccan and French football. Abdelaziz Barrada, a former Moroccan international who played for Olympique de Marseille and Paris Saint-Germain, passed away at the age of only 35. The player is said to have succumbed to a heart attack in France.
Born in Provins, Seine-et-Marne, Abdelaziz Barrada started football at Paris FC before joining US Sénart-Moissy and then the PSG youth academy. He then played in Spain, the United Arab Emirates and Turkey, notably wearing the colors of Getafe, Al-Jazira and Antalyaspor.
His stint at Olympique de Marseille (2014-2016) will remain etched in the memories of the supporters. He played in the 2016 French Cup final, which was lost to his former club, PSG.
Capped 28 times for the national team, he also participated in the 2012 Olympics with Morocco. "The deceased, who died on Thursday, October 24, 2024, had worn the national team jersey on several occasions in addition to having played in several European and Arab league clubs," the Moroccan Football Federation said in a statement.
After hanging up his boots in 2021 at US Lusitanos Saint-Maur, Abdelaziz Barrada had embarked on a career as a sports consultant on beIN Sports.
Olympique de Marseille and Paris Saint-Germain have expressed their condolences to the family of the deceased on their respective social networks. "Rest in peace Abdelaziz," wrote OM. "To his family and loved ones, Paris Saint-Germain offers its deepest condolences," published PSG.
