Moroccan Coach’s Snub Sparks Outrage: Oujda Demands Apology for ’Insulting’ Remarks

A statement made by the coach of the Moroccan national team, Walid Regragui, during the press conference after the match against Niger, has provoked strong reactions in the city of Oujda.
The coach stated that he "would have been upset if the match had taken place in Oujda," remarks perceived by many as insulting towards the city and its inhabitants.
The lawyer and former parliamentarian, Salima Faraji, expressed her indignation at these remarks. She reminded that Oujda was "the capital of the Moroccan East" with a rich history, and that its supporters had "always supported the national team with fervor."
Ms. Faraji felt that such statements "tarnish the image of the city" and "reduce its sporting and historical value." As a result, she publicly demanded that the national coach officially apologize to the inhabitants of Oujda.
The controversy has also gained momentum on social media. Many internet users have expressed their discontent, calling for respect for all the cities of the Kingdom and emphasizing that Oujda’s support for the national selection was unwavering.
