Egyptian Football Chief Praises Morocco’s Success as Model for Development

The president of the Egyptian Football Federation, Hani Abo Rida, analyzed the reasons for the growing success of Moroccan football, during a press conference in Cairo.
According to the official, the stability of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, under the leadership of Fouzi Lekjaa, is a determining factor. Mr. Abo Rida emphasized Mr. Lekjaa’s determination to implement an ambitious development project, benefiting from broad support, which has allowed Morocco to rise to the forefront of the global football scene.
Comparing the Moroccan situation to that of Egypt, Hani Abo Rida acknowledged the decline of Egyptian football and the instability that followed the national team’s defeat against South Africa in the 2019 qualifications.

In contrast, the Moroccan Federation has been able to take advantage of its stability and pursue its strategy despite setbacks, such as the elimination against Benin the same year. Morocco’s fourth place at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar is a testament to the success of this approach.
Hani Abo Rida also highlighted the quality of the pool of Moroccan players, made up of many professionals playing in Europe, as well as players trained in Europe who have chosen to represent their country of origin. This wealth is a major asset for the Moroccan national team, he said.
