Morocco Suspends Football Camp Amid Uncertainty Over CHAN Age Rules

Several reasons would be behind the cancellation by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) of the training camp that the Moroccan selection of players born in 2000 and later was to carry out from January 12 to 15, 2025 at the Mohammed VI Football Complex, in preparation for its participation in the African Nations Championship (CHAN).
The cancellation of the training camp would be due to the FRMF’s desire to obtain more details from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) regarding the next CHAN, before deciding on the age category that will participate in the competition, explains an official in a statement to Hesport. According to him, the FRMF is waiting to receive a response from CAF to determine if the participation will concern players born in 2000 and after, or if another category will be chosen depending on the information obtained.

What about the rumors of a possible cancellation of the next edition of the CHAN? The same source assured that no official information has been communicated about this for the moment. The cancellation of Tarik Sektioui’s training camp is not related to this possibility, although it is not completely ruled out, he stressed.
"Coach Tarik Sektiou has canceled the preparation training camp of the national selection of players born in 2000 and later, initially scheduled from January 12 to 15, 2025, at the Mohammed VI Football Complex," the FRMF announced on its website, without however mentioning the reasons.
The CHAN is a continental competition reserved for players playing in the national championships of their countries. It will be held from February 1 to 28 in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
