Morocco Appoints Tarik Sektioui to Lead Local Team in 2025 Arab Cup

Tarik Sektioui, the coach of Morocco’s Olympic team, has just been promoted by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) to head the technical staff of the national team of local players, which will represent Morocco in the next edition of the Arab Cup, scheduled in Qatar between December 1st and 18th, 2025.
This appointment was made after the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) responded to an invitation from the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) to participate in this tournament. The Moroccan team is expected to be composed of a mix of players from the national championship and a few professionals playing in Arab leagues, particularly from the Gulf and Egypt, who are not considered for the first national team.
Sektioui will also lead the Moroccan team to the final phase of the African Nations Championship (CHAN - local players) which will take place jointly in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda in August 2025. According to well-informed sources, there is already direct coordination between Sektioui and Walid Regragui, coach of the first national team, to select the most appropriate elements to compete in the Arab Cup. This will give a chance to new talents, especially those who have not yet had the opportunity to distinguish themselves in major international competitions.
Morocco had reached the quarter-finals of the previous edition of the Arab Cup organized by Qatar in 2021 before painfully losing to Algeria on penalties, after an intense match that ended with a score of 2-2.
