According to a member of the deceased’s family, a funeral prayer was organized this Tuesday, October 29 at 11:30 am in the city of Provins to pay tribute to Abdelaziz Barrada. This will be followed by the repatriation of the body to Morocco to be buried in his native village, Douar Aït Abdallah, commune of Khemis Dades in Kalaat M’Gouna, in the province of Tinghir, on Wednesday, October 30, 2024. Complex administrative procedures have delayed the repatriation of the remains of the former Moroccan player due to his dual nationality, the same source said.
On Wednesday, the eve of his death, Abdelaziz had told his mother that he was feeling unwell and that he "didn’t feel well," the same source reported. The former Moroccan international died suddenly of a heart attack while taking a nap.
The announcement of Abdelaziz’s death has caused great emotion among his family, friends, and former and current teammates on the national team, as well as in various national and international clubs. They mourn the passing of a man of good morals known for his charitable works. Many football personalities, including Fouzi Lekjaa, president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), have expressed their condolences to the family. Many people from the Tinghir region also went to the family home to show their support.
