Fugitive Moroccan Doctor Arrested in France for Wife’s Murder: Body Found Near Taza

The fugitive Moroccan doctor suspected of having killed his wife, also a young doctor who disappeared under mysterious circumstances in Fez about two weeks ago, has been arrested. He was arrested by the French authorities on the morning of Tuesday, July 29, reports Le360. The Moroccan judicial authorities are continuing their coordination with their French counterparts to complete the procedure for his extradition. Once in Morocco, he should appear before the courts to answer serious charges, including premeditated voluntary manslaughter and concealment of a body.

The couple worked at the El Ghassani regional hospital in Fez. But the wife had disappeared since July 14. Worried, her husband and father had quickly alerted the authorities and reported her disappearance. The victim’s phone was pinging in Oulad Zbair, a remote area on the outskirts of Taza. Investigators went there and discovered her body buried in an isolated area near Taza. Shortly afterwards, traces of blood were found in the husband’s car, parked in the garage of the marital home. Investigators suspect the husband was involved in the murder of his wife. The man had meanwhile fled to France.

Based on several incriminating material and technical clues, the public prosecutor’s office at the Fez Court of Appeal had issued an international arrest warrant against the main suspect. The preliminary investigation also revealed that the couple’s marriage was in trouble. Investigators discovered that the murder of the young doctor was committed in Fez. Immediately afterwards, her body was transported more than 125 kilometers to the rural area of Ouled Zbair. A deliberate attempt to erase the traces of the crime that will be thwarted by the investigators.
