Notorious ’Turbo’ Faces Double Murder Trial: Singer’s Husband Case Reopens Old Wounds
Reda Abakrim, alias "Turbo", the alleged murderer of Reda Faras, the late husband of singer Rym Fikri, will appear on July 10th before the Casablanca Court of Appeal in this case. The day before, he will be before the same court for another murder case.
The court has postponed Reda Abakrim’s trial to July 10th to allow the main defendant in the Reda Faras murder case, as well as his five co-defendants, to better prepare their defense. Singer Rym Fikri will be summoned to appear at this hearing as a witness.
Reda Abakrim, alias "Turbo", is being prosecuted for "forming a criminal gang, kidnapping and sequestration for the purpose of torture, premeditated murder, acts of cruelty, assault on integrity and concealment of a body, and failure to report a crime," recalls Médias24. One co-defendant is being prosecuted for the same acts, and the other four for "harboring criminals," "identity theft," "possession and consumption of narcotics," "forgery and use of forgeries."
The facts date back to February 8, 2024, the date of the mysterious disappearance of Reda Faras, the husband of singer Rym Fikri, whose lifeless body was found on February 14th in a river in Rabat. According to the initial findings of the investigation, the victim was kidnapped and then held captive in an apartment in Mansouria, near Mohammedia, where he was tortured before being killed. The investigators favor the trail of a settling of scores.
Reda Abakrim will also appear on July 9th before the same court in the context of another murder case committed in 2007 in France, for which he had already been convicted in absentia to 20 years in prison by the French justice system and acquitted at first instance in Morocco.
