Fugitive arrested in Spain fleeing to Morocco after French murder

The facts date back to June 14. The man is suspected of being involved in a murder committed in broad daylight, in this city in eastern France. Initial investigation findings suggest a possible settling of scores linked to drug trafficking.

Cooperation between French and Spanish police made it possible to quickly reconstruct his escape route. After the incident, the suspect allegedly left France and headed south toward Spain, with the objective of reaching a maritime port to exit the Schengen area.

His plan was to take him to Morocco. Spanish investigators established that he was heading toward the province of Almería before continuing his journey toward the coast.

A surveillance operation was then set up at the Almería bus station. Police suspected he was armed. He was arrested when he got off the coach in which he was traveling.

In the case file, French investigators have in particular one piece of material evidence: blue latex gloves found during a search. According to investigations, they would have been used at the time of the murder.

The suspect was arrested three days after the incident. He faces up to thirty years in prison in France. He was placed at the disposal of Spanish justice, pending the continuation of the proceedings requested by French authorities.
