Fuel Prices Set to Surge in Morocco Starting January 1

Bad news for Moroccan motorists. Fuel prices will increase as of January 1, 2025.
After a significant drop in prices in the last days of 2024, the tide is about to turn for motorists and consumers. As of January 1, 2025, the price of diesel could increase by about 20 cents and that of gasoline could increase by 17 cents, according to Les Inspirations Eco. In case of confirmation, this would be the second increase in a month. Diesel had in the meantime increased by 20 cents, and gasoline by 10 cents.
"The oil market is so unpredictable that it is difficult to anticipate or predict a trend. However, although the market remains in difficulty for the same reasons, namely a sluggish demand, the price of oil has slightly recovered during this period. On the local market, a slight increase, estimated at around ten or fifteen cents, could theoretically be applied, or not, by the hydrocarbon companies," explains Mostafa Labrak, general manager of Energysium Consulting and energy expert.
In Morocco, the liter price at the pump was 13.47 dirhams in January and nearly 11.27 dirhams in December. Internationally, the year had started with a Brent crude price averaging around $70. 2024 is ending on a downward note, oscillating between $68 and $72.
