Fruit Vendor Threatens Tourists in Marrakech’s Jemaâ El Fna Square
A fruit juice vendor was filmed verbally assaulting foreign tourists... And scaring them! It could have been worse... The authorities would have subsequently banned him from operating his business again.
In Jemaâ El Fna, hospitality is a concept that is starting to be lost. After the restaurants that charge exorbitant sums to their clients (tourists), sums reaching 5000 dirhams for normal meals, here is a fruit juice vendor who threatens tourists.
According to what can be understood from the video, the latter did not like the fact that the tourists bought from his competitor instead. But this is just an analysis of the video itself, based only on the images and gestures, and can therefore still be challenged.
However, what is certain is that the Wali of Marrakech did not appreciate this story, which adds another layer of nuisance to Moroccan tourism. He removed the said vendor’s permits allowing him to operate his fruit juice business in Jemaâ El Fna.
Note that the video is from last Ramadan. A tradition that will therefore not pass.
