Elderly French Tourist Arrested in Morocco for Alleged Child Sexual Exploitation

The Essaouira police arrested on Wednesday an 80-year-old French national, suspected of sexual exploitation of minors. An investigation has been opened and six alleged victims have already been heard.
The suspect was brought before the Attorney General of the King near the Court of Appeal of Safi on Friday, who referred his file to an investigating judge so that a thorough investigation could be carried out. "The French tourist was caught in flagrante delicto with two minors in his camper van, apparently with a view to misleading them," sources told the daily Al Akhbar.
The octogenarian was placed in custody, pending the completion of the investigation. Four girls aged twelve at most, presumed to be victims of the accused, have already been questioned by the judicial police services of Essaouira, in the presence of their guardians. The French tourist’s mobile phone is being analyzed to determine his modus operandi and see how he lures his victims.
