French Police Seize 2.5 Tons of Moroccan Cannabis in Major Drug Bust

A great catch by the French police who seized about 2.5 tons of cannabis last week, presumably from Morocco.

On December 26, the police got their hands on a utility van in Angers, in Maine-et-Loire, in which 2.5 tons of drugs packaged in 30 kg suitcases were hidden, reports the newspaper Le Parisien. The driver of the vehicle had been under surveillance for several months "based on wiretaps and surveillance".

The next day, four men were arrested by the police in "various cities in western France, particularly in Angers," said Deputy Commissioner Léonard Fauvet, deputy director of the SRPJ (Regional Judicial Police Service). The suspects aged 26 to 37 claim before the investigators to ignore the nature of the cargo while the driver claims to think he is delivering shisha tobacco.

During the searches carried out at the suspects’ homes, the police got their hands on several handguns, three vehicles and 30,000 euros in cash.

According to the public prosecutor, the value of this drug is estimated at 25 million euros.
