French Muslims to Determine Start of Ramadan on June 3

The Grand Mosque of Paris has just set the night of doubt for June 3 next, corresponding to the 29th day of the month of Sha’aban.

The date was set at a meeting held on Wednesday, according to the saphirnews website, which specifies that on June 3 next, the heads of the federations and the representatives of the French Council of the Muslim Faith (CFCM) will be present to set the date of Ramadan taking into account "the conditions of the observation of the Moon and the principle of starting the lunar month if the new Moon is observable".

"A Religious Commission will meet at the Paris Mosque to determine the date of Eid al-Fitr and inform the Muslims of France. This Commission will be held in the presence of the President and members of the French Council of the Muslim Faith (CFCM), imams, representatives of mosques in Île-de-France, representatives of all Muslim federations in France and the faithful," said Dalil Boubaker.

According to astronomical calculations, Eid al-Fitr should take place on Wednesday, June 5 in France.
