Morocco Extends Eid al-Fitr Holiday for Public Sector Workers

Friday, June 7 will be a public holiday and paid in Moroccan public administrations, local authorities and public institutions, following the announcement made this Monday by the Ministry of Reform, Administration and Public Service.
Knowing that only two days are granted for the Eid al-Fitr holiday, Friday, June 7 will be exceptionally a public holiday, even if Eid al-Fitr is celebrated on Wednesday, June 5. For this year, civil servants will be entitled to three public holidays, in addition to the weekend leave.
The decision was made under the provisions of Article 3 of Decree 2.05.916 published on July 20, 2005, the ministry’s press release said.
In addition, the observation of the crescent moon for the month of Shawwal 1440 will be made on Tuesday, June 4, according to the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, in order to determine the exact date of Eid Al Fitr.
