Morocco Expected to Celebrate Eid al-Fitr on June 5, Astronomer Predicts

According to the forecasts of the Moroccan astronomer Abdelaziz Kharbouch Al Ifrani, Eid al-Fitr will be celebrated on June 5 in Morocco, thus marking the beginning of the month of Shawwal 1440.
The crescent moon will be visible for the majority of Muslim countries on the 29th of Ramadan 1440, corresponding to June 4, 2019. Moroccans will have fasted for 29 days this year, like the countries where Ramadan began on May 7.
The calculations of the Moroccan astronomer were correct when he had announced the beginning of Ramadan in Morocco for May 7. Forecasts that the Ministry of Islamic Affairs had later confirmed after observing the moon.
The Eid al-Fitr celebration is an occasion for celebrations and rejoicing for all Muslims around the world. The day begins with the Eid prayers held at dawn in the mosques, followed by family visits and gatherings around tables laden with pastries, cakes and the traditional Moroccan tea.
