French Man Arrested for Alleged Rape and Domestic Violence Against Moroccan Wife

The police arrested a 39-year-old man in Trappes, the husband of a 27-year-old Moroccan woman. She had filed a complaint against him for rape and domestic violence.
The man’s arrest took place last Friday. Things moved quickly, due to the charges against him. He was indicted in Versailles for "rape and domestic violence" before being incarcerated, reports Le Parisien. Exasperated by the mistreatment she suffered from her husband, with whom she was religiously married in Morocco, the young woman decided to file a complaint last November. "She went to the police station, accompanied by relatives who helped her tell her story, because she was lost and alone," reveals a source close to the case.
She says she arrived in France in December 2019 to live with her husband in her in-laws’ apartment in the Plaine-de-Neauphle neighborhood of Trappes. On the orders of the latter, they were forced to leave the premises in February. The couple then moved into an Airbnb apartment. This is the beginning of hell. According to the victim, the accused insulted her, belittled her, humiliated her and forced her to have unwanted sexual relations on a daily basis. The young woman describes her partner as a man addicted to alcohol and cannabis. When he is under the influence of these toxic substances, he "changes face," she says.
During his interrogation, the husband denies the facts. "I am totally innocent," he proclaimed before the judge. "I was in love with her, my parents warned me that she was manipulative and the problems started as soon as she lost her residence permit." However, the psychiatric evaluation confounds him. It reveals that the victim was suffering from significant trauma. Moreover, the forensic physician claims to have noted traces of blows on her body. Neighbors told the urban safety investigators that they often heard screams coming from the couple’s apartment.
Pending his trial, the accused is already in prison.
