French Government Moves to Dissolve Muslim Rights Group Amid Crackdown

After the NGO BarakaCity, the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, is preparing to dissolve the Collective Against Islamophobia in France (CCIF).
Appearing before the Law Commission of the National Assembly last Monday, the minister announced that the CCIF, suspected of having relayed the "fatwa" launched against history-geography teacher Samuel Paty, will be dissolved in the Council of Ministers within fifteen days. The Muslim organization will thus suffer the same fate as the NGO BarakaCity. The dissolution of this association was pronounced last Wednesday, October 28.
"The BarakaCity association was dissolved in the Council of Ministers this morning (last Wednesday). As detailed in the decree I presented, it incited hatred, maintained relations within the radical Islamist movement, and took pleasure in justifying terrorist acts," Darmanin wrote on his Twitter account.
The decree ordering the dissolution of the association is crystal clear: "Considering that all the comments generated by the messages published on the social media accounts of the BarakaCity association in themselves constitute provocation to hatred, discrimination and violence, that they are still accessible without its president, or any member of the association, proceeding either to their removal or even to any moderation of the statements thus disseminated (...) the Council of Ministers, having heard, decrees that the association called Barakacity is dissolved."
