New Freight Route Boosts Trade Between Spain’s Motril and Morocco’s Tanger-Med Ports

The Volcán de Tauce ship of the shipping company Balearia, which recently launched the regular connection between the port of Motril and the port of Tanger-Med in Morocco, has already transported about 500 trucks in just one month.
This ship with a capacity of 1,100 linear meters of freight and about 300 passengers, has mainly transported trucks of fruits, construction materials and fertilizers during the first month of operation of the new line between the port of Motril and that of Tanger-Med, reports Portal Portuario, noting a progressive growth of freight traffic, particularly on December 19, 21 and 29 where 34, 35 and 42 cargo trucks were transported respectively.
"We are in a privileged strategic position offering new loading possibilities and reducing road transport mileage," said the president of the Port Authority, José García Fuentes, adding that this new regular maritime line with Tanger-Med expands the offer for carriers from the port of Motril, the closest to Madrid and with direct access by highway.
