Fraudster Posing as Cop Arrested in Marrakech for Extortion and Harassment

He was blackmailing passers-by near the Koutoubia Mosque for not respecting the state of health emergency and not wearing the mandatory mask, reports the daily Assabah.

According to the same source, the individual’s actions were reported by a passer-by to the tourist police in the city of Marrakech. The witness also reported to the authorities that the fake policeman had also harassed a minor, throwing provocative remarks at her on the pretext that she was not wearing her mask properly. Caught in the act of fining passers-by, the impersonator was unable to produce papers proving he was a law enforcement officer. He was arrested and taken into custody.
