Fake Judge Arrested in Marrakech Checkpoint Scam

The elements of the gendarmerie of Marrakech proceeded to the arrest of an individual who made his victims believe that he was a judge.
His arrest took place during a check at a gendarmerie checkpoint in the Loudaya area on the road leading to Agadir, reports Assabah. With a magistrate’s badge stuck on the windshield, the fake judge tried to intimidate the elements of the gendarmerie who asked him for the papers of his vehicle. He tried in vain to get his contacts to intervene by phone.
An officer found the driver’s attitude suspicious and doubted his function. He finally handed over the vehicle documents to the gendarme who discovered that he was a man wanted by the Rabat police. The gendarmes arrested him and then transferred him to the headquarters of the Loudaya gendarmerie. During his custody, he was questioned about the offenses of identity theft and violation of the state of health emergency. The gendarmerie elements found and seized files belonging to third parties who would be victims of fraud and scam in his vehicle.
The preliminary investigation reveals that the defendant promised them jobs in various administrations. Luxury suits as well as branded ties were also found in the suspect’s car. On Monday, the fake judge was brought before the king’s prosecutor. He is being prosecuted for identity theft, fraud and scam.
