France Seeks to Boost Economic Ties with Morocco, Minister Says on Visit

Franck Riester, French Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade and Attractiveness affirmed on Monday that France is "more than ever" determined to strengthen its economic partnerships with Morocco.
During his two-day working visit to the kingdom, Riester multiplied meetings to take stock of the bilateral economic relationship, and to identify avenues for the future to renew and strengthen the partnership between France and Morocco, reports the MAP.
During his meeting with the president of the employers’ association, the minister expressed his satisfaction with the solidity, excellence and durability of the privileged ties that unite the two countries, stating that the two parties would benefit from working together on the various possible fields of partnership development in line with the new development model (NMD), but also in line with the French recovery plan and the France 2030 plan.
"We wish to share with the business leaders our common ambition to develop economic partnerships, exchanges between France and Morocco, especially after the installation of the new government and a year after my last visit to demonstrate how much our country is determined to strengthen the specific relationship we have with the kingdom," said Franck Riester.
For his part, Chakib Alj, president of the CGEM, indicated that this meeting focused mainly on the means to be implemented to give a strong impetus to co-investment and joint ventures, "even beyond the respective two markets and in strategic and forward-looking sectors such as digital and sustainability".
To achieve this, the president of the employers’ association insisted on the lifting of certain obstacles such as the tightening of visa procedures for Moroccans since the beginning of the year, adding that it will also be necessary to continue to work to establish a "healthy and favorable" business climate for the construction of business relationships.
