Morocco and Portugal Launch Economic Council to Boost Business Ties

Morocco and Portugal signed, on Monday in Rabat, a cooperation agreement on the establishment of an Economic Council in Casablanca.
Piloted by the General Confederation of Enterprises of Morocco (CGEM) and the Confederation of Enterprises of Portugal (CIP), this new platform will strengthen the existing links between the two countries and explore new innovative partnership paths, according to a joint press release.
The purpose of this agreement is to raise the level of cooperation between Morocco and Portugal towards an advanced economic partnership, with the aim of a win-win co-development for the benefit of the populations. It will also contribute to multiplying investments and setting up structuring projects, the note specifies.
"Through this cooperation, we wish to support our companies to seize the existing potential on our markets in strategic and future sectors, such as digital, aeronautics, automotive, energy, textiles, metallurgy or health," said the president of the CGEM, Chakib Alj. Other sectors will be added gradually, he added.
For his part, Eurico Brilhante Dias, Secretary of State for Internationalization at the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that this new platform will serve as an accelerator and give a strong impetus to trade and investment relations between the two countries.
