Former Soccer Star's Wife Faces Trial for Fatal Rabat Car Accident

The trial of Wafaa Eddahri, the wife of former international Youssef Chippo, will open on November 19 before the Court of First Instance in Rabat.

On Wednesday, the public prosecutor’s office of the Court of First Instance in Rabat decided to prosecute Wafaa Eddahri while at liberty. She was released after paying a bail of 30,000 dirhams. On Monday, Youssef Chippo’s wife, former international and sports analyst for beIN Sport, was arrested and then placed in custody following a road accident on Mohammed VI Avenue in Rabat, which cost a life and resulted in one injured person. The next day, her husband arrived in Morocco from Qatar to support her in this ordeal. Wafaa Eddahri will be tried on November 19 for involuntary manslaughter, unintentional injury and recklessness, before the Court of First Instance in Rabat.

Who is this woman whose arrest had set the web on fire? Wafaa Eddahri has built a reputation as one of the most popular influencers on social media in Morocco. She offers videos highlighting Moroccan fashion and cuisine. She regularly shares cooking recipes and documents her outings and daily life as a mother with her daughters. The influencer is followed by more than a million people.

Wafaa Eddahri’s meeting with her husband Chippo was a chance encounter. However, it led to a relationship, which turned into a friendship and then into marriage. At the time, the young woman was away from "social networks," only to later become an Instagram celebrity.
