Former Moroccan Soccer Star Urges King to Address Soaring Food Prices
Former Raja player Yassine Salhi addressed King Mohammed VI in an Instagram post, asking him to intervene in the face of soaring prices.
The player implored the sovereign to take measures to end the rise in prices of basic consumer products in Morocco. "A solution must be found to the frightening rise in prices in the country, many basic foodstuffs have seen a sharp increase," he wrote on Friday.
And to add: "Most citizens are affected by this price increase, not to mention vulnerable families with limited incomes, and fuels, whose price drops by four cents to increase by one dirham after two days. We are Moroccans and we love our country and our king. We hope that our dear king [...] will intervene to resolve this dysfunction and restore normalcy."
This initiative by the player is part of the actions taken in recent days by several celebrities, influencers and Internet users in Morocco who have asked King Mohammed VI to act to remedy the rise in prices of basic consumer products.
