Former French President Sarkozy Returns to Marrakech for Leisure Trip

Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy has once again chosen the destination of Marrakech to spend pleasant moments.

Like many celebrities and world personalities, Nicolas Sarkozy is also a lover of the destination Marrakech where he owns a property. On Saturday, he arrived in the ochre city. The former French president had his lunch in one of the riads of the city. An unusual security system was put in place to secure his trip.

Two months ago, Nicolas Sarkozy visited Marrakech for the presentation of his book "The Time of Battles", in the presence of about 300 Moroccan and French personalities, including the King’s Advisor Mohammed VI, André Azoulay, and the French Ambassador to Morocco, Christophe Lecourtier. On this occasion, he expressed his admiration for the sovereign, describing him as an exceptional man and a visionary leader. He also mentioned a special bond, a mutual affection and a shared understanding between Rabat and Paris. "We share the same interests and relationships and we are so different, but so close," he said.

A few days before the presentation of his book, the former French president was in Spain where he reiterated his support for the Moroccanness of the Sahara. "I am for the Moroccanness of the Western Sahara," he affirmed in the Spanish television program "Espejo publico" (Public Mirror), on the third channel Antena3, also welcoming Spain’s position on the issue. "I think the Spanish authorities have done well to recognize this," said the former French president. And he continued: "when we see how King Mohammed VI has managed Morocco, has held the most extremist Islamists, has contained them, we can trust him. The Western Sahara is Moroccan."
