Former French Minister Praises Morocco’s King for Balancing Tradition and Modernity

Jack Lang, director of the Arab World Institute (IMA) in Paris, has again expressed his admiration for King Mohammed VI for his commitment to building a strong and advanced Morocco in many areas. For the eternal Minister of Culture, the kingdom is a model for other countries.
In an interview on the occasion of the Throne Festival, the former French Minister of Culture saluted the leadership of the Sovereign who, according to him, "has succeeded, at the same time, in preserving the heritage of the Kingdom, its history and its traditions, and in opening this magnificent country to modernity, economic development and cultural development."
Reviewing all the sectors impacted by Mohammed VI’s good vision, the French politician declared that "His Majesty the King has brought a new spirit, an impetus, a strength, a youth, and a new ambition." According to him, the Sovereign’s work is "considerable" and covers all subjects, including the deepening of democracy through the new Constitution.
Regarding the field of culture, Jack Lang hailed the revolution taking place through the restoration and promotion of heritage and the creation in particular of major museums. As an example, he emphasized the Moroccan syncretism which is both the work of the history of Morocco, but also of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and the way in which he has succeeded in interweaving in this country the cultures, religions and spiritual legacies.
Furthermore, Lang underlined the economic takeoff that the Kingdom is experiencing, driven by the Sovereign who "has been able to bring this hope of socio-economic change even to areas and corners considered to be remote." On the international level, the king has given Morocco an exceptional influence and a new weight, especially towards Africa, where he has ensured the kingdom’s presence in a quite "unusual" way, by personally investing in this work, he said.
