Former Bouznika Mayor Summoned in Urban Planning Corruption Probe

Mohamed Karimine, president of the commune of Bouznika, dismissed after accusations of mismanagement, has received a summons from the investigating judge.
Following a summons he received from the investigating judge, Mohamed Karimine is expected to be heard in the case of the dysfunctions noted in the urban planning sector of the commune he presided over, reports the Arabic daily Al Akhbar. Four other individuals, including one of his deputies and civil servants from the urban planning department in Bouznika, are also expected to appear in this same case. These scheduled appearances follow a search by elements of the Royal Gendarmerie of the town hall premises.
They are conducting investigations into allegations of dysfunctions revealed by the complaint of a former member of the urban planning commission regarding suspicions of falsification of official documents, particularly those relating to real estate projects in the city of Bouznika and the report of a technical expertise carried out to prove the existence of dysfunctions within this commune. They thus consulted several documents from the technical services of the commune and carried out the control of certain documents related to construction projects.
Mohamed Karimine is accused of several dysfunctions, including the issuance of two building permits dated the same day granted to the same real estate project and on different architectural plans, the obtaining by the holder of a subdivision project of an authorization based on plans other than those approved by the urban planning commission of the commune, the absence of implementation of the action plan provided for by law, the absence of decisions and measures likely to improve the quality of the services provided by the commune, or the improvement of the performance of the commune in several areas, including urban planning. Not to mention dysfunctions related to the governance of the commune. The dismissed elected official is the target of several complaints filed by municipal councilors belonging to the opposition but also to the majority.
