Corruption Probe Widens: 5 More Moroccan Officials Under Scrutiny in Moubdii Case

Other heads could fall in the case of former minister Mohamed Moubdiî, president of the commune of Fkih Ben Saleh and deputy of the Popular Movement (MP), currently incarcerated in the Oukacha prison for alleged financial crimes.
Five other commune presidents could end up in court. They are suspected of having "dealt with the same company that benefited from the generous contracts signed by Mohamed Moubdiî for the needs of the municipal council contracts in Fkih Bensaleh," reports the daily Al Akhbar, referring to public contracts that would have allowed them to each benefit from cars costing around 400,000 DH.
Since Thursday, the president of the commune of Fkih Ben Saleh and deputy of the Popular Movement (MP), Mohamed Moubdii, has been incarcerated in the Oukacha prison for alleged financial crimes, along with seven other co-defendants out of a total of 13 people prosecuted, including entrepreneurs who have benefited from the commune’s contracts that he chairs. According to the initial elements of the investigation, he should face several charges, including the misappropriation of public funds, forgery and use of forgeries, as well as offenses related to urban planning laws.
